What is Metabolic Syndrome?
High blood pressure is intrinsically linked to Weight Management and Metabolic Syndrome. The International Diabetes Foundation (IDF) defines Metabolic Syndrome as a condition consisting of central obesity (waist circumference >94cm in men and >80cm in women) and any two of the following four factors -: Raised Triglyceride (TG) level, reduced HDL cholesterol, raised blood pressure and raised Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG). Therefore Metabolic Syndrome is an accumulation of all these cardiovascular risk factors.
